WQM-1 wiring calculator

Tap a connection on the board. Enter the run. It tells you if the wire fits the installer manual, and what to change if it does not.

Assumes the BlueSignal enclosure. Measure each run from the cable gland. Using your own enclosure? The same limits apply.

VIN terminal

24 V DC power

Long, thin wire loses voltage before it reaches the board. The manual allows 3 % (0.72 V).

  • Fuse the supply at 3 A at the supply end.
  • Check polarity with a meter before you power on.

Wiring sheet

Each connection you check is added here. Print it and keep it with the commissioning record.

Sized per the WQM-1 installer manual, Appendix B.

A reference from the WQM-1 installer manual, Appendix B. It is not an electrical design. Line-voltage work is licensed work.

Questions

Why 3 %?

A 24 V circuit has only 0.72 V of headroom at 3 %. Past that, pumps can stall or dose slow without ever tripping a fault.

Why can’t I land 10 AWG on the terminal?

The terminals take 18 to 12 AWG. Land heavier wire in a junction box and pigtail 12 AWG into the board.

Does this replace an electrician?

No. It covers the low-voltage and signal runs on the WQM-1. Line-voltage work is licensed work.
