Commissioning App
BlueSignal Commissioning App π²
The fast, simple way to activate and verify any BlueSignal device.
The BlueSignal Commissioning App allows contractors, installers, and customers to quickly bring BlueSignal hardware online. Every device β Gateway, Gateway Pro, Smart Buoy, or NPC Node β is initialized, tested, and verified through this app.
1. What the Commissioning App Does βοΈ
The app walks you through every step required to activate a BlueSignal device:
β’ Pair hardware via QR code
β’ Configure network + power settings
β’ Validate sensor signals
β’ Run diagnostic checks
β’ Confirm cloud connection
β’ Complete commissioning photos
β’ Submit documentation automatically
It guarantees that every device goes live correctly and cleanly the first time.
2. Supported Devices π
The commissioning app currently supports:
β’ Pollution Gateway
β’ Pollution Gateway Pro
β’ Water Quality Buoy
β’ Ultrasonic Algae Emitters
β’ Soil Nutrient & Water Sensors
β’ NPC Node (optional edge compute + analytics)
All devices appear as interactive tiles during commissioning.
3. How Commissioning Works π
Step 1 β Scan the Device QR Code
Every BlueSignal device has a QR code on the enclosure or mounting bracket.
Scanning opens the correct commissioning workflow automatically.
Step 2 β Verify Power π
The app checks and confirms:
β’ Battery status
β’ Solar input (if buoy)
β’ External power source (if Gateway or Pro)
Real-time warnings appear if voltage is too low for activation.
Step 3 β Choose Connection Type π‘
Depending on the device, the app walks you through:
β’ LTE activation
β’ LoRaWAN pairing
β’ WiFi setup
β’ Direct local Bluetooth configuration
β’ NPC Node pairing (optional)
Each option includes a guided checklist.
Step 4 β Sensor Check π‘οΈ
The commissioning app runs a live sensor diagnostic, verifying:
β’ Temperature
β’ pH
β’ Conductivity
β’ Turbidity
β’ Nutrient probes
β’ Chlorophyll / algae indicators
β’ Any attached soil or water sensors
Values must look reasonable before the app allows you to continue.
Step 5 β Cloud Connection Test βοΈ
The app confirms:
β’ Gateway β Cloud handshake
β’ Sensor β Gateway transmission
β’ Dashboard visibility
β’ Timestamps match actual readings
If the cloud is not receiving data, the app tells you exactly what to fix.
Step 6 β Installation Photos πΈ
Installers submit:
β’ A front view of the device
β’ A close-up of the mounting point
β’ Cable management photo
β’ A photo showing the environment (dock, pond, bank, etc.)
Photos are automatically attached to the commissioning record.
Step 7 β Final Verification βοΈ
Once all tests pass, the device is considered live and ready for monitoring.
The app generates:
β’ A commissioning report
β’ Device serial + metadata
β’ Sensor baselines
β’ Installer info and timestamp
This report is saved to your BlueSignal dashboard.
4. NPC Node Integration (Optional) π
If an NPC Node is installed on-site, the app allows:
β’ Local device pairing
β’ Offline data queuing
β’ Smart batching and analytics
β’ Redundancy if LTE/WiFi is down
Commissioning recognizes when an NPC Node is present and configures devices automatically.
5. Commissioning Requirements π§°
Installers must have:
β’ Smartphone with the BlueSignal App
β’ Adequate cell service or local WiFi
β’ Access to device mounting location
β’ Required tools for the specific device
β’ Any passwords or network credentials (if needed)
6. Best Practices for Installers β
β’ Commission devices before final mounting if signal is weak
β’ Always verify environmental readings look realistic
β’ Take clear photos β they become part of customer documentation
β’ Never leave a site until the cloud confirms data is flowing
β’ Label devices when installing multiple units
7. Coming Soon π§
β’ Offline commissioning mode
β’ Multi-device batch commissioning
β’ Customer βhandoff modeβ for clean transitions
β’ Commissioning analytics (time-on-site, completion rate, common issues)
8. Troubleshooting π οΈ
Common issues the app can diagnose:
β’ Weak LTE signal
β’ Incorrect wiring
β’ Low battery
β’ Sensor not detected
β’ LoRaWAN gateway not responding
β’ Water-quality sensor out of range
β’ Device not appearing in dashboard
The app displays guided steps to resolve each.
